I am fairly well satisfied that the usage of this character is a subversive internet marketing campaign to promote restaurant chain Jet's Pizza, which operates in the midwest USA. I have noticed this meme being forced regularly (though not much commented on) specifically on boards like /sci/ and /his/ and /lit, and maybe others.

Basically the OP incorporates the basic visual language of the Jet's pizza logo into an OP which nominally fits the board to which it's posted. Discussion ensues and the memetic stays in people's view. I've noticed multiple threads slyly using this technique.

I therefore believe the whole business to be a shrewd Jet's pizza marketing campaign to grow their brand, and I actually wish to congratulate the chain and their shillers for this shilling. I actually drive by some locations and I am thinking about them more now because of this shilling. Please recommend me a food item to try - I'm a single guy so a whole pizza won't do. Do you have pizza by the slice? Answer me, I'm your boss.
