Y'know, I always hear people make the joke about "Hurr durr I read it for the articles", but I'm curious as to what sort of content they actually contained.

I once found a porno mag in a flea market bin that was specifically catering to those that liked "bigger" girls. The pictures were nice, but I was alarmed to see how many articles there were, all on various yet semi-related topics.

Didn't Hunter S. Thompson write for them a few times? Or am I thinking of "The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved" and how he managed to get a hold of a Playboy photographer badge which he used to intimidate people?

"Kentucky Derby" was for Scanlan's. He did write a piece on Hawaii for Playboy in the 80s though.

Playboy also had pieces by Kerouac and Mailer and (kek) Murakami. If it wasn't for the nudie pictures, it would have been a solidly upper-middle to lower-upper brow magazine.
