Any VHD loremasters here? Is it work reading the whole series? Do the books ever get into the OSB war and Cthulu stuff?

>> No.22959670

Why do boomers like this? I tried watching it and it's just Batman meets Blade. Also D isn't even as badass as Alucard

also did they ever reeeeeally explain what D is besides the son of dracula or whatever?

The first one is an interesting blend of steampunk, western and gothic horror genre, while Bloodlust is more thoughtful as it gives pathos to both D, the human characters and the vampire ones, and is so much better in terms of visuals alone. Also, it's not Batman meets Blade, it's Elric meets Van Helsing, retard.

I wish that the Japanese format of modestly sized, mostly narratively discreet, novel series had taken of in the west instead of the post-WoT 10 part Epic Fantasy doorstopper where the writer loses focus and runs out of steam halfway.

I liked both anime and read the first book. The first book is 100% cringe material that makes the first anime look like Citizen Kane. Avoid.

to be fair is works especially well for D since hes a vampire so there is no problem squeezing 26+ stories into one character since hes immortal and its a dying earth setting with nothing going on with nothing ever changing. im sure there are plenty of western series like that anyway and its not like VHD is especially popular anyway, ive been unable to find anyone whos read even a fraction of the books it seems like

a lot of sub-genre classifications are utter nonsense

no they arent. it describes it and every other book that fits into it perfectly

But why call it Dying Earth if it's simply post-apocalyptic fantasy?

>> No.22962426

>>22962399
>dude read this its totally steampunk, western and gothic horror post-apocalyptic fantasy Batman meets Blade meets Elric meets Van Helsing!!1!
vs
>its dying earth

>post-apocalyptic fantasy
its not. its a blend of sci-fi and fantasy in a depressing dying world. almost no "post-apocalyptic fantasy" is dying earth. most zombie shit is post-apocalyptic but is nothing like dying earth

>> No.22962433

>>22962426
I know what the name entails, but how is it not post-apocalyptic? I simply think it's one of those myopic terms like weird fiction and am not a fan.

>> No.22962446

>>22962433
well i mean yes its post-apocalyptic but thats really broad and generic and dying earth describes it perfectly. are you just moving the goalpost? sub-genres are used because they can be very specific and tell you a lot quickly, you could call it post-apocalyptic and be right but you wouldnt really know a lot about the setting

>> No.22962450

>>22962446
I'm not moving goalposts and I'm not making this into a "I'm right and you're wrong, here's me doubling down on my stupidity" sort of argument, I simply have a distaste for such terms, period. Nothing more to it.

>> No.22962476

>>22962450
ok you dont understand language and dislike it. who gives a shit? go on a crusade for new-speak somewhere else maybe? terms are used to describe ideas accurately, thats why a term like dying earth exists because "post-apocalyptic" by itself isnt very useful

i hope you never have to get directs or learn a task from someone as nigger retarded as you
