God I fucking hate this smug cunt so much.
Her jokes are not funny, her drawing style gives me eyeycancer and you can smell le quirky oh-so-enlightened-but-also-anxious tumblr gruuulll from everyone of her drawings.

Makes me want to rip out her guts through her mouth while chopping up her hands.

The point I was making is that Zizek gets leniency for tongue-in-cheek promoting his totalitarian vision of a communist utopia while right-wing intellectuals of a much more moderate calibre are granted no such preferential treatment and are in fact ostracized by the cultural establishment.

I watched tens of hours of Zizek material and read 100 or so pages of Sublime Object of Ideology and I agree with the overall criticism presented in that meme.

he does not actually promote a "totalitarian vision of a communist utopia". the whole point of his work is that such a vision is no longer possible. a dude talking about hegel and lacan while occasionally joking about gulags is not some totalitarian menace.

your insistence on the supposed oppression of unspecified right-wing thinkers just reads like a persecution complex.

No the criticism is that all he's saying here is that action is less meaningful than thought.
Everything that he says is puffed up in the extreme by his affectations and idiosyncrasies and that somehow makes people think that whatever he's saying is more profound.
The criticism is that he says very little in a much too convoluted way and then fails to support his arguments with actual material.

Essentially a creator of intellectual mud as most of what he says ends up being meaningless or historically indefensible.

Seriously "I hope Trump wins because it will shake up the establishment and send a wake-up call"
That sentiment is absolutely retarded. And there's many more like it. All very abstruse with little content of value beneath the muck

Yeah, I may not be qualified to speak much but I can't imagine trying to study Zizek seriously as an intellectual. I've read some articles and essays by him and seen some interviews by him and he seems funny and entertaining but I can't imagine wasting my time reading a full book by him. He seems like a pop-intellectual, but I don't necessarily hate him. It's just what he does.

>Everything that he says is puffed up in the extreme by his affectations and idiosyncrasies and that somehow makes people think that whatever he's saying is more profound.

so once again the criticism is all about the youtube meme content and not his actual work, which is in his books.

i know him primarily from his writings on lacan, which i read before i even knew he was a youtube meme. the idiosyncrasies of his public speaking are obviously not present in the writing and my whole impression of him was precisely the opposite of yours: that reading lacan himself was like wading through mud and zizek manages to extract from it really insightful observations and present them in a straightforward way, with fun anecdotes and examples from hitchcock. i never had the impression that zizek obfuscates anything, if anything it's the opposite.

this is the stuff that made him famous academically (and the stuff on hegel that i might get into at some point although it like i will need some prep on hegel). it's his actual work. the rest of it is random rambling lectures and interviews he does for money and which people then mine for clickbait. who cares what he said about trump to some random journalist?

it's a joke. him saying he's serious is part of the joke. what makes it a joke is that he's an academic that will never have political power. i really don't see how you can not see it's a joke unless you're actively looking for things to be offended about.

There is more to the political right than larping white nationalists. Sloterdijk is a good example but I think he seldomly searches the political limelight. He is much more somebody who floats certain ideas in the prepolitical cultural space, like test balloons.
