a truly excellent book, one i cherish. cleared up a lot of problems for me, glad to see it getting some attention here on /lit/

The nature of the book is interesting when taken on the context of the presumed authors life, defending the maori and their 'rights' (not really natives when only predated Europeans by 350 years) against bankers and landlords and others.

"survival of the fittest" refers to biological fitness specifically. you are seen as biologically the fittest is you breed with multiple partners and your progeny survive to adulthood.

the guy who lives in a council estate and has 11 kids by 7 women is the fittest.

it has nothing to do with who is strongest or who's best in a fight.

if Nietzsche wasn't sophisticated, why would philosophers want to do that, and how -- if it's so unsophisticated -- would they be able to so easily?
