How does /lit/ feel about this?

It makes me angry for some reason. I don't know why. If someone could help me out with that then I would be grateful.

Since when have cupcakes been a "big pop-culture wave"? I thought they were universal and timeless.

>It makes me angry for some reason. I don't know why.

Because it's trying to cheapen and degrade the library into a soulless pop-culture icon?

I understand now.

Reminds me of something MLK said.
"Lukewarm acceptance is more bewildering than outright rejection."

People coming in and having this shallow understanding of the books they pick up. It pisses me off. Once something is accepted by the public, it becomes a mindless fad and if you participate in that fad you have to hang out with the lemmings follow the herd. Lemmings are something I loathe with the burning intensity equivalent to fresh lava. I love reading. I can't read in the library any more now because of the people there. I will be forever secluded to the safety of my own home.

What makes this hipster?
Let's not just bitch at eachother, I actually want to know.

The word gets thrown around so much that it's nearly useless, but it's actually applicable here. These people are trying to make the library cool, edgy, and "hip", therefore, hipsters. It's a staple of the hipster phenomenon to bring ordinary things (that don't need to be made into a fad) into pop-culture.

"These people" as in NPR?

Wouldn't you say that they are just commenting on trends and pointing out key facts?
