"Heaving from side to side buttocks heavy with discontent, she lumbered out of the room."

Are sentences like these meant to make me laugh? I imagine about 80% of the reason behind his enduring fame outside of Japan is just "muh aesthetics" and samurai LARPing teenagers.

Hi, I am the OP. What does the word 'discontent' mean? I am too foolish to know the meaning of this word. Thank you in advance.

P.S. Please excuse my horrible English for I am actually of Japanese descent.

P.S.S. Please don't ask me questions about why I read my Japanese novels in English.

Thank you for reading. This is MY story.

The scene where Noboru spies on his naked mother is pretty hot. And they made a good movie about him.

But yeah, he's overrated.

>Muh melodrama
Shakespeare, Kafka, Dostoevsky and Flannery O'Conner were also melodramatic. Sorry most classic literature isn't gritty and realistic for your tastes, amerifat.

So you think Shakespare etc. had flat characters and relied on sentimental exaggeration to move plot forward? Well, okay. I still disagree.
