I've went through that. Believe in yourself, OP. If you think you are smart, you will be, and don't let anyone else let you think differently. And you know, it's not about whether or not you are smart in a certain subject; I think if you genuinely enjoy said physics or philosophy, etc., you should do it. But don't let that existential way of thinking affect you, because it will only wear you down and make you think less of yourself.
