So, what did you think?
I thought it was pretty great, considering i usually despise Judeo-Christian mythology

>> No.903322

meh, too dan brown-y, even with the supernatural elements

>> No.903324

Too Judeo-Christian, this was really the last step for me when it comes to just putting down any book with judeo-christian themes or allusions.

i thought it was a really good idea, but then when she made it out that the nephilim were responsible for the nazis, when everyone knows hitler was into norse mythology, pissed me off

>> No.903336

haven't read it, but i've been meaning too, so just tell me-do any actual angels or supernatural beings actually appear? Because i don't want another mystery novel dan brown-type shit. what i'm asking you is is this SF?

OP, why do you despise it? I'm an athiest, but I love the mythology of the Christians at least...it's good fun and a fun mythology to write in, imo.

i never really liked the idea or concept of angels, plus my parents are very religious so there's some angry bias there. But i loved this episode of Supernatural "Hammer of the Gods", where they mix angels and pagan gods like Kali, Odin, Baron Samedi etc.

yes, nephilim do appear, but not prominently

>>903354
how can you not like angels? in a purely fictional way, they're one of my favourite beings

waaah, mommy i don't wanna go to church on wednesday night

Oh come off it, even the most devout know that religion is sacrifice beyond just church attendance, that's a big part of the whole fucking point.

>> No.903370

christian mythology sucks, stfu

Please recommend books based on other mythologies then. LotR is based on norse mythology and is fantastic, as /lit/ well knows.

>> No.903378

Christian mythology is great...it's such a hodge podge of older religions that, as a writer (not a good one, just saying), it give's you tons of room to work in your own ideas.

I'm off to work right now.

I'll post some when I get home tonight.

i reread my post and i can see how i midght have come off that way, sorry, not my intention.
i just meant i prefer old mythologies, especially graeco-roman

>> No.903388

>>903382

Good try. However, I'm attempting to write a darker story in that mythology...God may be good, but his actions may from time to time be ambiguous....I'm also casting a large light on the fallen angels and their role in things, that is to say, keeping the peace to benefit their own survival.

i loved hammer of the gods.
i'm just sorry hermes was such a little bitch-plus, does anyone else hate it when greek gods are called roman names in modern fiction. mercury my ass

have you read murder mysteries, a short story by gaiman? it shows god as a manipulative, machiavellan asshole-only depiction of God i liked

>> No.903424

i tried googling it, but the summaries are incomprehensible
basic plot anyone?
