So do authors, or any of you, use and specific software to write or is it just Word or Notepad?

I'm curious as to how similar it is to something like printing a digital photo. The photo has to be a proper resolution for certain sizes etc. Does this translate to printing a book?

i write it all in the 4chan comment section and then save it to notepad. if anon likes it i delete it

I write on paper.

If its something I don't hate after awhile, I'll type it up and edit with Word. Then print out, put into my pile and send it out eventually.

If I want to spell-check I can just copy + Paste it into a more conventional word processor.

Sorry to ask a related but fairly off-topic question but:
How do you guys organize your ideas for characters and plots, not full drafts?

I just have notebooks full of writing, doodles, photos, fabric, clippings, and other media that relate to the person or event, but I think I should probably incorporate some sort of digital cataloging so my work isn't destroyed by a coffee cup.

I use Liquid Story Binder for it. It's pretty nifty.
