That's sad, because I think it's really great and Wallace has so much to say that everyone can understand.

yeah, you see, i've been in rehab and psyche wards and all that shit. i've lived the NA meetings. he definitely hits the nail on the head numerous times but it's nothing special to me.

does that justify my dislike, or is there more?

You seem to think that it's about drugs, based on your own past with drugs.

Please do, Infinite Jest is truly a waste of time. You could have read a guide to Ulysses in the same amount of time it took to get into that junk.

>> No.903093

I'm just impressed you made it that far OP.

I recently tackled Underworld and caved in and quit after about 350 pages.

>> No.903097

>>903091

Ulysses needs a guide :x?

>> No.903099

>>903097
It's generally more enjoyable if you read a guide first, yes.

>> No.903104

what are you guys, retarded?

Not arguing about artistic value here, but come on.
Infinite Jest is not hard to READ at all.
As is Underworld.

You seem like you believed all the hype about how great, complex and difficult those things are.

In the end I hope you quit because it could not keep you interested, not because it was too hard or too long.

Now, what that says about you and the people crying out how fantastic those books are is a different matter.

>> No.903110

>>903104
op here

yes, i agree with you, it's not a hard book at all. that is perhaps the reason why i didnt quit sooner.

>> No.903112

>>903104

I never claimed Underworld is hard - it's just soulless and damn boring. I kept thinking something might develop and in 350 pages it didn't. I don't feel an obligation after that long to keep hanging around.

>> No.903129

>>903104
No one said it's hard to read, just annoying and not worth the time.

>> No.903130

hay im reading this book, and I really like it

>> No.903168

Finfag here, been reading for almost two months and on page 190 because it's so fucking hard to understand. I can read one page of this book in about two minutes. Shitsucks.
