Want to start reading some Scandinavian lit. However, I don't know shit about the topic. What books should I get started on? Sagas also accepted.

Pic related: they're the countries I give a shit about.

Start with Ibsen first of all. Peer Gynt, Hedda Gabler, Brand, Wild Duck, Enemy of the People....pretty much all of Ibsen is worth reading.

Strindberg, you can be a bit more picky, you don't have to read the insane stuff. But Miss Julie, The Father, Dance of Death, A Dream Play (at least)

Hamsun, Hunger & Mysteries
Doktor Glas (can't remember author)

Njal's Saga
The Kalevala

Karin Boye's poems, and Kallocain

and I count Ingmar Bergman as genuine literature, too, so you should watch The Seventh Seal and Persona and Smiles of a Summer Night (at the very least)
