I live between the university and wilderness, whenever I feel like it's time to go to the other I' go there
My life is in the perfect balance. If any of you citymen are unhappy, pack a good book and water and go hiking. Cities and worklife weren't designed for human, but for money. Pitiful attempts at reducing a biological animal into a screw has done no good to anyone.
Walk in the nature, see the sunrise and sunset, feel real hunger, sleep in fresh air. This is what I consider human and what is good for human.

Lev Shestov, Emil Cioran and John Keats.

Also Gothic and Weird fiction have both had a huge influence on me. But not a single writer of either on a whole.

I grew up in the countryside and moved some 15 years ago into a big city, I know what you mean. I can only consider the consumerist dehumanization in my thought processes in retrospect, it came very naturally and slyly while living among citypeople, though there was a point when I realized I didn't feel alive the same way as before.
You're a solid fellow.
