I think generally, the jerks on /lit/ will tell you:
1. comics are not literature
2. there is a board for this
3. you are a faggot
Personally, I only agree with 2. BUT I do like a comic if it tries to redefine or challenge the medium in some way. I am a fan of all creative arts.

I like graphic novels. I'm a fan of Batman. I guess my personal view on comics is generally positive. They still can't be compared though.

I like books and I like movies. Comics seem to be a sort of bastard child of the two yet they don't interest me in the slightest.

If it's good as a comic, I'm sure it can be adapted into a better film.

I don't care much for the super hero business, but I like a lot of the vertigo imprint stuff like Sandman, Shade the Changing Man, Transmetropolitan, Y: The Last Man, 100 Bullets, Hellblazer, and a few others I can't recall at the moment. I also like The Walking Dead.

I tried to read Preacher, but unfortunately I had just read two adachi manga in a row (H2 and Katsu!) so when Cassidy started coming on strong to Tulip behind Jesse's back I knew where it was heading and there was absolutely no way I was going to subject myself to another one of those moments.

eh i think some comics eg watchmen/v for vendetta are truly very interesting but i dont think comics are nearly the same as literature. its not necessarily a bad thing that its more 'fun' and easier to read.

Comics aren't literature, or a storyboard for cartoons, or any sort of intermediary. They're just a different medium to tell stories, and, if done properly, can elicit a completely different and wholly satisfying experience other than just getting a story across. Moore and Gibbon's Watchmen, Shaw's Bodywold, Jodorowsky and Moebius' Incal, and Ware's Jimmy Corrigan are all good examples if exhibiting what words, drawing, and pacing can do that books or films can not. They're just as much pop entertainment as anything else. There's just as much good as this trash/

I read the Walking Dead before the Road, and the Road had no impact on me. I liked the end of it, but I'm pretty sure the Walking Dead prepared me for the horrors. The only thing the Road had was the environmental message, but I prefer Zombies.

Well, it's been a while since I read All Star Superman. But Superman was just having a talk with Lois Lane where she had learned he was dying and that she felt it wrong that he bears such a burden on his own.

Also, the whole comic up to that point has been about how he's losing his strength and how things are so bad for him.
