Alright guys. Long-time /lit/ faggot here.

I just got back from my holiday in Japan a few days back, and I've decided to spend three months there over the Christmas break.

Normally speaking, I buy my books from bookdepository.co.uk or borrow them from the library. However, if I'm to spend three or so months in Japan, I'm not exactly going to be able to take a pile of books with me.

As e-readers are becoming cheaper due to increased popularity and competition, do you believe it to be a good option to purchase one in the not-too-distance future for someone who is often traveling?

I heard mention about a 'next-generation' of e-readers, but I'm not sure what they entails. If it's just colour ink, I won't bother. What else can they improve on?

Anyways, would you recommend one? If so, which brand/model? If it matters, I have pretty big hands, as I'm quite tall (195cm)

Picture semi-related, me with some random Japanese girls. Excuse the 'V' sign, but you can't really help but doing it when you're in Japan with Japanese people :S

Go to Book-Off and buy some books for 105 yen.

I found some book shops in Japan, but most of them were larger retail stores that really only sold books in Japanese.

And I couldn't find any books in the 100 yen shops.

learn Japanese and read Japanese books. They're cheap as hell at book off.

get manga if you can't read, but want to look at pretty pictures instead.

The kindle is probably your best bet for traveling. It's among the best for battery life and has free 3g coverage. The nook's touchscreen LCD drains the battery and I think sony doesn't offer the free 3g. Don't even think of getting an iPad they are lower then shit tier for reading on.

The next gen of e-book readers are a ways off and won't be a big step up so it isn't worth waiting. Color is a pipedream as of right now.

Get a Kobo, it's cheap but doesn't have a lot of features.

I study accounting, so I prefer learning systematic things. Like, 'Do this, then that, and check to see if it's correct'.

I've never been able to get my head around stroke orders though.

Me with some girl I randomly hooked up with and a random, after we got wasted in my hotel room. Normally sake is around 20%, but this shit was 35 or 36%, and I was downing it like I normally drink sake, and I was also on an empty stomach.

Bad quality for the win.

I am heading to Cuba in the fall for 6 months to write and live.

I am bringing my laptop, the basic clothes, a nice dress shirt and the rest of my suitcase will be books, ranked from my most important to least.

An ereader would probably save me a lot of hassle, but at the moment, this is how it has got to be.

I was talking about books in Japanese, sorry. I assumed you'd be interested in those since you would be in Japan.

lol

Still, what's the point of going to Japan for 3 entire months and not knowing the language? If you're just going to me a typical gaijin looking at temples and fucking slutty girls looking for gaijin dick, then congratulations on being a typical gaijin.
but 3 goddamn months with no language experience? way to experience the culture, buddy

I normally travel really light too, but only that much for 6 months, shit must be cheap in Cuba I take it.

Oh yeah, I'm in Australia by the way, so the e-reader market hasn't really taken off so much here.

Because it's a fucking HOLIDAY.

I can speak some Japanese, enough to get around, but no where near enough to work (English teachers aren't inclusive, as you don't even need to speak the language to do it), or study there (unless international university).

What's the point in me studying my ass off in Japanese, when this is probably going to be the last time I go there? It'll be three times in one year, Japan will be done and dusted.

The way you say 'gaijin' makes you seem like a real weeaboo man...

Picture of me with some random uni students I met in a bar. If I was there just looking for pussy, why would I spend so much time with people I have no interest in (for sex).

Acrueid, I'm from the Gold Coast. Capital of the Japanese in Australia. Why would I spend money to GO to Japan, when there are more than enough here already?

I'm not even really attracted to Japanese girls so much.

Picture related. Not even happy girls were coming to take photos with me. (Tokyo again)
