I love Egon, I am not OP. I will post my favourites. I'm the guy who started a Schiele thread recently before this.

Dali's illustrations of Les Chants De Maldoror are top notch.

One of my favourite Munch paintings, a self-portrait.

This is a painting by a British artist, Billy Childish who is still very much alive and active in his art today. Google him for some more of his better works, too.

He was part of the Stuckist movement, a movement which I suppose fundamentally sticks to the expressionist uphold of visual art. He dropped out of the movement about 2 or 3 years ago If I'm correct, but still continues to paint some fantastic expressionist style paintings.

If any fans of expressionism, think that it is dead. I may have made your day. Ok, I will admit his work is not as good as the more iconic expressionists, or post-impressionists one might go so far as to say, but it is very close. In todays artist culture, if you are a fan of this style, you cannot go wrong with him.

I have a love/hate relationship with Bacon. I love -this- specific work though, for the pure fact that it turns religious icons on their head in an expressionist way. That, and it is one of only 3 peices of art I've seen to actually scare me shitless. Which I think is a good thing

Yes, I am mad. I get mad whenever I see Damien Hirst or any of his fucking peers. I have more artistic talent hidden away under my foreskin than he ever has, or will have.

The YBA are shit. It makes me ask, "where has art gone, today?" All it is today is ethier multi-media installations, cheap imiations of eastern illustrations, or this modern art shit we see Hirst and the likes producing. Where is 'art'? All we see on exhibition from modern artists' today, is creativity at its lowest level.

I don't think the phenomenon of the YBA speaks to modern times generally, as much to the time and place from which they emerged (late-80s early-90s, Thatcherite, post-Big Bang Day London), which shared all of the flaws of the YBA movement; they were made for one another. pic is Paul Klee. Haters gonna hate but I love this guy. He was one of those artists I didn't "get" until I saw his paintings irl. the portraits are strangely beautiful and human in their own way. You can help but stare at them and wonder about their expression, so many emotions conveyed in such a simple form. Truly impressive.

I bought a large-format Schiele art book the other day, and a Goya: Complete Etchings circa 1942. Twelve and fifteen bucks respectively.

Still waiting for arrival. ;_;

Oh and by the way, does anyone know a really decent Edward Hopper book? They all either seem to be skimpy or expensive.
