have you read any of nietzsche's? are you accustomed with kant? do you have an idea of the influence of heidegger and phenomenology on the contemporary french thought of the time? have you read hegel and kojève's readings of hegel? if yes to all you are in for a treat, if no it will most likely be puzzling for you, or at least you won't be able to understand the groundbreaking aspects of the revival of nietzsche in early sixties france

Sadly Nietzsche has a lot of these fucks riding on his coattails. Take Foucault, for example: he wrote an entire book based mainly on Nietzsche's usage of a few interchangeable German words, on the misguided belief that Nietzsche wasn't using them interchangeably.

Pity France for trying so hard to remain intellectually relevant since the Enlightenment.
