I always judge the book by it's cover, the author and contextual information I have.
I want to read The Oresteia just because of the cover

I'd encourage you not to always require information regarding the author and such - being a New Critic from time to time has its own relevance. As for judging a book by it's cover - I'm pretty sure everyone does that. Books are like people in that way; whether we like it or not, we base many of our decisions on aesthetics.
