It's because there's no self-deprecating edge to it, or it just subtly takes itself too seriously. The end result is that the creator doesn't think he needs an actual joke to carry the thing. It's like you said, just a flat reference + the ideological content.

/pol/ does a meme like Hitler in a car saying
>Get in, loser. We're invading Poland.
which is kinda funny. The joke is simple, juxtaposition of super serious ideological stuff with "acting like a random dude." Not complicated, but it works.

But leftists and Tumblr do the meme equivalent of just a picture of Hitler with the text
>Hey bae I heard you wanted to gas Jews

There's no joke. It's just Hitler + pop culture.

The problem is chick shit. Leftists really have to purge the chick element from their collective unconscious. The feminine mind has left a subtle imprinted itself on their movement. Women don't understand humor or the (mild) edginess necessary for comedy. They think just their feelings + "am I right ladies??" is a joke. That's why all woman humor is
>MEN. AM I RIGHT LADIES???? *applause*
Same exact problem as the Hitler thing: it's just "we agree on this don't we? :))))" It's a communal hivemind thing, not an actual joke.

The left has been feminized.

This is kind of funny but the problem is that it's too serious again. Instead of it being a reference to the Recess episode where Bob makes them build the pyramid, like cleverly twisting one of its plot points to be a proletariat uprising or something, it's just
>Hehe >:) Gonna get u, bourgeoisie. Be expecting us >;) We never forgive.. never forget >:D... Hehehe we're so cool am I right ladies??

What makes /pol/ funny and popular is that everyone takes their serious beliefs ("I hate immigrants," "I think Jews control high finance and manipulate my country with it," "Western civilisation has been taken over by pussies") and comprehensively, without exception, opens it up to horseplay. They spam WE CRUSADE NOW whenever some brown dude hassles a white shopkeeper. It's subtly self-aware.

There are three ways to read the response:

1. Stop being modest, you're reading Plato, so you clearly are an intellectual :)

2. Lol yeah you're reading Plato because you're an entry-level pleb.

3. You are as of yet unintellectual, though that is the reason for reading Plato: to become enlightened.

There's no way of knowing with the information given which of the three meanings was intended.

But the second joke can also be considered to be juxtaposing "serious" things (gassing Jews) with "acting like a random dude" (Using words like bae). And the brand of comedy you go on to describe is exclusive to neither women nor liberals.

The trends you claim to see don't exist - you have invented them in order to serve your preconceptions.

But this very same thing you are criticizing is happening on /pol/ aswell, stop cherry picking.

The reason you don't really see any "self-aware" leftist comedy on 4chan is because there isn't really a leftist community here that was able to react to itself over and over again to the point of getting self-aware. /pol/ does provide such a community for the right on 4chan. Look at the humor of /new/ or the racist side of ancient /b/, they weren't self-aware at all. They did just the thing you are criticizing about "the left" now. But once /pol/ was amde (and established as here to stay), a community arose that could bounce off of itself.
Creat a board where lefties can have their fun and discussion and they will over time develop a similar sense of humour, because, as you can see when being on multiple boards for a while, all boards generally start to mock themselves at one point, in some cases to the point of self-hatred (/v/ for example), when the userbase becomes increasingly self-aware of the board's culture. Once someone achieves self-awareness, his attitude will shift into a ironic flavour of cynicism.
The reason you likely don't see this stuff on places like tumblr is because (the politically "active" side of) tumblr is mostly made up of literal (as in, literal) teenagers looking for a hugbox for their idealism. Should they become more jaded and lose their idealism (which teenagers today apparently tend to do as they grow well into their tenties), they will either stop enjoying tumblr and leave that place, or transform it in a similar fashion as the process of becoming self-aware that I described above.

What you said about humour in general, by the way, is absolutely true. Your application of that knowledge just was a bit misguided.

Where do you even find a virgin outside of a middle school? Most guys don't have much of a choice. Personally, If a girl told me she was a virgin, it would be a huge red flag. My first guess would be Christianity, and my second guess would be that she was crazy or had some sort of weird issue. Aside from that, the idea of "teaching her the art of lovemaking" has no appeal for me. I want her to have had diverse experiences already if you know what I mean. "You want to put it WHERE? Gross!" No thanks.

>the world isn't just the west

Irrelevant to her situation if she is herself a Westerner.

Girlfriend of my roommate was a virgin, but it was just because she was a dork. Girls can be dorks just as men can.

Funnily enough, she kissed me one evening when he was not there, and it took me until after undressing her that I asked her if she really wanted this. She then told me, when I had a finger inside her, that she hadn't actually done it with my room mate, even though they slept in the same bed. I told her to put her clothes back on and go to bed.

She later cheated on him with some pointdexter from their home town. I threw them out of the flat when I caught them sitting on my room mate's bed when he was at home burrying his grandma. They broke up and she moved out immediately. The fact that I made out with her never came up.

Total butter face by the way.
