>The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner currently tops USA Today’s best-seller list

>Little, Brown estimates they have already sold 700,000 copies in the United States.

>Deadline reports that that the British bookstore chain Waterstones expects to sell more copies of Bree Tanner than of any other book this year.

You can still read 2010's Book of the Year online for free: http://ld-breetannerbook.libredigital.com/index.html

Good news because it proves you can give away your writing and still make money on books.

Bad news because it seems you have to write like Meyer to pull it off.

Damn Brits. Oscar Wilde would be dissapoint.

Waterstone's employee here. Had zero people asking me about Bree Tanner and actually a refunds on it. No sales.
Maybe it's because I work on the upstairs tills for the specialised sections (History, Travel, Health, Academic, Arts etc) and not in Fiction...

>Stephanie has gone a little dark since Twilight, I read the first couple pages on the website but it was just too dark and disgusting for me. It just had a gothish light on it, not uplifting in any way. But that's just because I don't like stuff like that.

This is probably why there were refunds of his book. Who wants to read books about vampires killing people? That's just icky, with all that murder and uncouth stuff.

>> No.821527

If your going to spend a couple hours reading it at hour. Save yourself some $$ and read it at the bookstore!! Or online!!!

no, there was a romance subplot shoehorned in. It was really half-assed. They meet each other, go on one date, and then the guy disappears for the other half of the book, and they somehow she figures out that he's dead.

And while the vampires kill people, its very obvious that Stephenie Meyer wasn't comfortable writing about it. Bree always closes her eyes or looks away whenever someone dies, and there isn't any graphic descriptions of anything.

And there was really no conflict. There was so little conflict that Bree didn't even put up a fight or argue against her execution.

or maybe they didn't want it once they realized Edward only makes a cameo appearance and isn't the center of attention

So wait, even though this chick is a vampire she STILL is just as much of a useless piece of luggage as bella was?

Can Stephanie Meyer even write a protagonist that does things?

A better question would be "Can Stephanie Meyer even write?"

The answer is no.

The whole twilight series suffers from the same kind of drab shit you just described. It seemed like the only text she even cared about was describing the various physical characteristics of the two love interests. Reading about 100 pages of eye descriptions really wore on me.
