Short Fiction.

I would prefer if someone would provide sincere criticism of at least one section.

Marcus Aurelius isn't particularly "difficult" or pretentious.

Also, Edgar Allen Poe is one of my favourite authors. How is he trash? This is honestly new to me.

No.
I used to correspond with Kevin through email and I am fond of him, though.

Recently he stopped replying to my emails, even though we had been contacting each other for 2 years.

You don't get to call Dante and influence
that's to be decided after you've been dead for 100 years and deemed worthy by people who read a lot

Sincere crit: you've got a way with words but you need to unmeme yourself and just write a story. Your form is arbitrary, totally separate from content. You need to think less about imitation and influence and more about what you want to say and how that dictates the way you say it. You can't just "pick a style" then fit random crap into it. No author does that.

> Teacher flinging girl by the plait against the wall to have her smack and limply fall to the ground, going up to her and pressing down against her and letting a line of spit slowly dribble down on to the bridge of her nose, her mouth, and chin, taking his chubby sweat-bedecked hands and pushing her by the shoulders against the wall with she moving her head to the side and scrunching her eyes

If you were trying to write like a five year old then it's very convincing. You may have misinterpreted mostmodern style as immature, or some kind of allowance of bad writing. Whatever the conceptions of your influences you have are, it's wrong
