How did you guys enjoy "A Brave New World"? The writing style reminded and tone of the book reminded me of "1984" in a lot of ways, chiefly in writing style. I feel like both have a lot of relevance in our modern day, which is bizarre considering the difference in the Modus operandi of these stories. Which did you enjoy more /lit/? Which do you think is more plausible? Which do you think is more ideal?

So did Reddit actually have a mass exodus to /lit/, or are you cross-posting?

And to answer your question, BNW>1984

Orwell's cautionary tale of an entire nation becoming prisoners of a corrupt authoritarian system feels ham-fisted compared to Huxley's vision of a world so saturated with technology and information that the people "imprison" themselves.

There's honestly nothing wrong with the BNW universe from an internal perspective. The main criticism you hear is "wow me being a unique snowflake from this world would not like it!", but of course the people in said world are conditioned to it and therefore programmed for happiness.

The few malfunctioning lads get put out to pasture with their fellow edgelords and get to play around to their heart's content. Everyone wins.

I think both have some truth to them, but to be honest, generally, me having sex with a 20 years younger hot chick (Orwell suggests) just seems like a much more realistic scenario than me wasting my life away on my computer (Huxley suggests)
