Instead of reading many new books why not just re-read a few books many times?

The books I read only once I've forgotten, basically pointless. The books I've reread two or three or four times ive retained and they stay with me. I can talk about them years later.

Better to know a few books well than read a ton of shit you'll forget.

I don't care about remembering shit, I just want that immediate pleasure of reading a new thing.

You have to do both. You obviously read new books when you read books you ended up rereading for the first time.
I reread about 5 books per year and read about 20 new books per year.

That's too much. I wouldn't have time for my video games

I read fiction for the immediate (aesthetic) experience, not for longevity.

You can't read a book, you can only reread a book.
You'll always miss things on the first attempt.
The best experience comes from rereading it
