the Sprawl trilogy is a seminal work of cyberpunk, whether you think it's mediocre or not is beside the point. it's like disregarding The Godfather when asked about gangster movies because you think it's mediocre.

suggestion for OP: everything by William Gibson, especially Neurmancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive. Burning Chrome by him is also seminal.
