Depends on the tattoo and where it is on the body. Something minimal and well designed, put in a place that is easy to show, but not always visible, like on the upper back or on the left or right pec is a decent example.

Getting a tramp stamp, or something on your gosh darn face is just atrocious. I mean, even something on your wrist is still an awful place to have a tattoo, as it is hard to hide and is something most anyone will see.
