I need good military sci-fi books. Already reading all the 40k I can get my hands on.

Bonus points for Power armor.

But seriously.

If you read Starship Troopers, you really have to read The Forever War. (Heinlein was in WWII, Haldeman was in Vietnam. Different experiences, and Haldeman wrote TFW explicitly as a response to Heinlein.)

For good modern military SF, I'd suggest Scalzi's Old Man's War and its sequels.

>> No.759154

old man's war series by john scalzi also the lost fleet series by jack campbell , pretty good both of them

OP, I am also thinking of getting into 40k, but I'm not sure of its quality. How is it? What's the best you've read so far?

Oh, and Enders Game counts I guess.

Do you really need us to tell you?

Yes.

The best 40k book is probably Horus Rising.

But they're all franchise novels, so eh...

I'm assuming that makes them less good?

/Lit/ has a stigma against them.

This is not the proper way to use "stigma" in a sentence. Try again.

Well, I hate e/lit/ism, so I'll assume that means it's good regardless of what everyone else thinks.

Military sci-fi, especially featuring power armor.
Hmmm.

How about Armor (John Steakley)?
