So I guess that I'm a normal/slower reader, any tips on how to read faster wile still being fully immersed in the book ?

Put the book really close to your face.

Fast-reading is bad-reading.

Savour the words.

Not sure why this is saged, but yeah, fast reading is generally bad reading. Only read as fast as you can without losing meaning. A lot of non-fiction can be read quickly without losing meaning, but a lot of fiction requires time to interpret and ponder. The only thing that will help, really, is to read MORE, and of more variety. That's how you become a better, quicker reader.

averagely 20 pages per hour, my tempo.

I find the more immersed I am, the faster I read.

reading slow is alright
As i read i imagine how the novel would be if it was made into a documentary/film/tv show, for some reason that helps me get more immersed and read a lot faster because i don't have to reread parts.

Isn't that the main appeal of reading? To create your own visual world, your own interpretation of what something should/would look like? That is the entire reason I read instead of watching movies.

You don't watch movies?

if you read ebooks: use the scroll feature. i find that helps me set a pace and stick to it. it feels like you're reading the beginning of star wars for hours, but you quickly get used to it.

if you read paper books: use your fingers to dictate the pace. it's not as steady as auto-scrolling, but it's close. just slowly move your hand down the page to reveal one line at a time and make an effort to keep up.

try and selected good and interesting books. if you find yourself reading slow then perhaps you aren't all that interested in what you're reading. a good author will leave you hungry for each new line.

also, read with your eyes. don't sound out each word in your head. don't read with your lips.

this comes with experience but decide as you're going along what can be read rapidly and what you want to read slow. for instance, i like to read dialogue slow but descriptions of persons, places or things i tend to read fast. i also quickly read through a person's inner thoughts and reflections. painful moments i will read as fast as possible, but take my time and enjoy the good and happy and romantic moments.

lastly, try to discipline yourself. if you find yourself getting distracted, be active in shutting out those distractions. if you catch yourself reading the same word or line or paragraph over again in a loop, close your eyes for a few seconds and tell yourself to focus.
