Hey, /lit/, writing an internal passage for a character wherein which he looks down on wounds that have been doled out on him and it triggers an intense emotional response and carries the narrative forward and yadayadayada.

Basically, what I need to know is if a person's wrists were pierced all the way through by a stake with the thickness of let's say a quarter, how exactly long would it take for said wounds to completely heal. More specifically: What, roughly, would be the state of said wounds after two months time?

Color of skin is also black if someone wants to talk about discoloration.

I dunno....with modern medical technology? After two months the wounds would be closed but they'd still have severe motor function disability and nasty scarring.

Although, I don't think black people's wounds actually heal.

6-8 weeks is generally how long severe puncture wounds/fractures take. Ditto on the motor impairments - nerve damage ain't know fun (speaking from experience).

Cool, that's more or less all I needed to know. Thanks a bunch, dudes.

Well even if you lucked out and didn't damage a nerve, your muscles would be way too stiff and sore to really use yet.

Medfag here you should know if you really want to put a stake the diameter of a quarter through a character's wrist and then have that hand ever work again you'll be straining credibility.

You could recover SOME function, but it's definitely never going to be the same.

Thought that was the Lolita cover for a sec

Yeah, it's good to have a heads up on. Already gave the character issues with using his hands, but since I didn't destroy it completely I'll either think of thinning out the diameter of the stake or will use advanced medical tech to help reconstruct the neural pathways and tissue in his wrists.
