Is this Holocaust denier worth reading?
I watched The Great Beauty which opened with a quote of his.

>> No.7500381

Every Holocaust denier is worth reading, just like Hugh Trevor-Roper and A.J P. Taylor is worth reading.

Absolutely.
This book is incredible. Everyone on this board says that it's nihilistic or depressing, but they'd say the same about any author if they were actually to read.

The best way to describe the book is to look at the cover and say what you think of it. Here's my best shot, "What the hell is that it's some kind of depressing thing. What as if the world isn't depressing enough we need another reminder? Fuck off."

>but they'd say the same about any author if they were actually to read.

Very few writers actually manage to write anything that is nihilistic or depressing without sounding like a childish teenager though, so I don't think that's true.

He seems like a real misanthrope, I like the cover makes me want to watch a David Lynch short film.

>>7500457
I thought it set the tone well.

This was one of two books in recent memory that had me down on the floor convulsing in laughter, tears and everything.

There was no antisemitic messages or references that I recall here. Maybe, at best, there may have been a passing reference to a Jewish shopkeeper, or something of the like, but nothing central to the message, or the story, or anything even memorably offensive.

Not that there are a lack of things he says that are offensive, but you're more likely to be offended if you are an American.

Even the African natives he portrays are moved in what they do through force of pity, rather than imposed violence. Kinda like if some homeless bum set up a junk shop in the corner of your yard and what bothers is not that he is there, rather that he is a hopelessly incompetent businessmen.

In short, he took Conrad's iconic work and did it one better.

Don't pass on the chance reading something really awesome, just because the author may have been an idiot outside of his art. Artists and writers being assholes are the rule, not the exception.

You don't deserve to read Céline, youtre.

>There was no antisemitic messages or references that I recall here.

his antisemitism is displayed only (or maybe just mostly) in his pamphlets. Yet it's hard to tell how he was. It's the same as with Ezra Pound, or similar to "rasism" of Lovecraft. And he was not an idiot (or his ideas idiotic), he was just one of those strange guys (certainly clever, not even edgy, just some odd ideas). I remember reading some of his interviews and it was completely obvious that he's not like "his media image". But I'd guess it wasn't easy to be his friend.

Yeah, Céline is a tough one to sort out, especially so for channers.

On the one hand, just due to his reputation alone, you probably don't want to get caught leaving copies of his novels lying around your local holocaust museum. On the other hand, über redpilled /pol/sters aren't exactly flocking to bookstores to buy up his works in an effort to better reflect on The Truth.

His novels are many things, brutal, hilarious, ugly, astonishing, refreshing, and so lacking in antisemitism as to confuse the shit out of people who can only think in a form of absolute binary dichotomies.

But he apparently was the real deal in the world outside his novels. So stick with his novels and ignore the rest.

If Hitler himself is worth reading, then yes.

But Hitler isn't worth reading, and has nothing to do with this at all, and your commentary has managed to be one of the worst in a couple bad days, for some reason.

I was just memeing about the holocaust denial, I don't give a shit.

It was just funny/jarring to be reading about him and find all that out.

He is a genuine antisemite but not in the way of the skin head/kkk stereotype. He is against the idea / archetype of 'the Jew' which is a particular set of attributes. He would be 'against' a Jew to the degree that they conform with the archetype.

He supported National Socialism and is anti-humanitarian. Superficially, people assume this means 'comic book villain' in the same way people naively react to Nietzsche condemning morality as for slaves.

In actuality his actions are instead based on virtue (actions reflecting on his being instead of just mechanical rules/morality)

So Celine the elitest, anti-humanitarian, anti-democratic, national socialist, anti-semite would never charge for his services as a doctor and lived in abject poverty because of it.

> during the war, Céline charged that Pope Pius XII and Hitler himself must both be Jews, because neither was making a sufficient effort — in Céline’s view — to transform France into a purely Aryan country.

>Celine's crude invective was too much even for Nazi propagandists, many of whom shied away from Céline out of fear that his hysteric rants could harm the fascist cause. some reviewers ironically claimed that Céline must be a Jew who was hoping to make anti-Semites look bad by spouting such clearly insane statements.

>I remember reading that even SS officers avoided poor louis-ferdinand because he was unable to shut up about the jews.

Probably a serious contender for the title of edgiest cunt to ever live.
