Vonnegut- innovative, accessible, a little overrated

Bradbury- his debut, written in 9 days and it shows, read something else by him
Ellis- satirical brilliance by an ok writer

I prefer the old one. Also you should add the book Wake of the Raven. Its a love story about a man trapped on an island with an 11 year old loli. Lots of explicit sex scenes and is pretty romantic if you are into that. Highly recommend it.

This surprises me too since in my daily existence everyone I know who reads pretends they're above him, that he's commercial trash a la Palahniuk (who is also not commercial trash in my opinion if not as "literary" as Ellis). I think it's mainly Ellis' hatred of Wallace that makes every English student I know hate Ellis. Maybe people here have started reading his forgotten book, The Informers, and realizing that he's actually very talented. Beats me.

I personally like everything he wrote before Lunar Park and Imperial Bedrooms; the first is only worth its first chapter and the latter's title is the only decent part of it. Still a nice title though.

I dropped Road 40 pages in and Slaughterhouse Five 20 pages in. Am I pleb? I just didn't find them very interesting.

On the other hand I'm reading The Trial now and it's pretty good so far.
