yeah, no hype

only people who might hype that book are people who have read less than 10 books since high school

and maybe john green fans

Do you not go outside? So many people rec this book all the time.
I thought it was alright, not mind blowing, pretty sure 90% of the hype was just because the movie had Emma Watson in it.

The movie was OK. I think it is suited for audience between the ages of 14-22... I.e. young adult fiction. I haven't read the book, and even though I'm outside the y.a. demographic I tend to have a soft spot for children's literature and certain highschool-teir books. I might give it a shot, especially since girls i date seem to love it

10/10 tier book. I like to keep it close to my Ulysses, Don Quixote and The Satanic verses.

I think it's a decent book. Read it in high school.

It's a pretty good YA novel, which isn't saying much. But if I had to recommend one YA novel I would pick that one.
The narration develops in the same fashion as Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, which is pretty neat.

I too was recommended this book by a girl. The thing is that the girl read John Green books and bullshit like the Celestine Prophecy. It's a dilettante book

How does its portrayal of adolescence differ from the movie? I've neither seen it or read it, but wondering whether I should waste 2 hours on it or the considerable amount of time longer it would take to read.
