Anyone here write actual letters to people? I have been wanting to get into it and have even set up a "penpal" (a girl I already know but in a different state) and she said she would love it and I should do it.

I figured that I have nothing else better to do, but I have a few questions:

What type of stationary is best?

Should I spend some money on a fountain pen?

Is there a good place online where I can purchase this material? Or even offline (I would prefer that honestly) like home office stores?

I feel like letter writing is a bit of an anachronistic thing but it also feels way more personal over an email or even a text.

Been doing that with a girl who lived across town just for the fun of it. We really just used normal writing block paper and a ballpoint.

Crane if you are American.
G. Lalo if French.
Smythson if British.

You cannot write if you aren't in these countries.

Absolutely get a fountain pen. Will make writing much more pleasant. You can get a pilot metropolitan for like $15 dollars, or go for a Lamy Safari which has a better nib and flow, but you might not like the aesthetics. A cheap Parker might be good too.

As for stationary, I personally like Clairefontaine or Rhodia.
