I just finished reading Brave New World.
All the way through it I kept thinking, if Audous Huxley were alive today, seeing the drug use and MTV shit. He would weep for humanity and realise his fears were coming ture.

i don't know. i never saw the brave new world scenario as that bad. thought the protagonist a bit uppity.

drug use hasn't changed at all

man has used drugs for all of his history, mainly alcohol during the last thousands of years, and so it still remains

Now you should read 1984, from George Orwell.

hahah, weird I just finished too. Scrolled down and saw there was already a post.

No, Aldous Huxley was an failed satirist and modern readers don't understand what he was talking about.

Ray Bradbury's predictions in Fahrenheit 41 on the other hand appear to be spot on. He even predicted Cops.

>Burning books
No, but that's not meant to b taken literally.
>Depriving people of information
lololololololololol
I guess it was a lot worse before the internet, but still. The information is available to anyone who seeks it but the mass media is manipulated in such a way that most people don't realize how uninformed they are and and don't care either way.

i wrote my final for my English class on it.

an innumerable crowd of like and equal men who revolve on themselves without repose, procuring the small and vulgar pleasures with which they fill their souls.

Fahrenheit 451 depicts a dystopia in which people have amused themselves to death, BNW tries to do this but Aldous Huxley being a fuck terrible writer gets in the way.
