What did /lit/ think of this book? I read it a couple of years ago, it was crazy but lots of fun to read. Some time ago I saw it on the /lit/ top 100 chart which I was suprised by, thought it's too silly for people around here to like it to that extent.

I read only the first part, how do the rest compare?

if you like the first one you'll like the rest.

it helps to have studied some of the canonical occult texts if you want to get some of the deeper references.

I but the book down somewhere in the 2nd part and I can't get back into it. Is there a summary or something I can read so I can get back into it?

>> No.7388560

>>7388504

well i would suggest wikipedia, cos as is well known, its articles on books often provide a plot summary, but as you're not an idiot you'll have already checked that.

It's hard to recall, all kind of a blur

but I think book 2 was the best
book 1 had a bad start but got fun
book 3 was dissapointing

Yes I have, it's a pretty shitty summary for such an active story

here's from memory

book 1
saul goodman is a new york city cop. he's a loose canon but damn it, he gets the job done. there is a bombing at terrance malick's libertarian magazine. meanwhile reporter george is sent to the racist south to investigate a lead. he is captured by telepathic cops and subsequently freed by hagbard (who is basically captain haddock from tintin+ your grandpa's political ideology) and his girl in their yellow sumbarine. george is made to fuck an apple to join the discordians, worshippers of eris and enemies of the iluminati. oh yeah the iluminati tries to start ww3 over fernando po.

book 2
they go to atlantis, ringo gets told the history of atlantis, saul goodman gets LSD'd by iluminatus or maybe the discordians. malick takes sual and tries to convince him he's in a philip k dick book. hp lovecraft is contacted by people who want to join the iluminati. some hooker in las vegas does some wack ass shit and area 51 anthrax gets out. i forget how this situation is fixed. atlanteans colonized the earht like that donovan song.

book 3
so the iluminati have nazis frozen (or maybe dead?) under the lake where woodstock is going to be held in the german alps. a band that i figured was maybe supposed to be pink floyd is playing. the iluminati are satanist gnostics who want a mass sacrifice (the woodstock guests) to have enough life force energy to become gods. i literally cannot remember how the gang gets out of this pickle. somehow the nazis are really easily defeated. the girl the main character was fucking the whole time shapeshifts then its like woah man we're alll coonnnected duuude we aree the same brooooo. then everyone goes in hogbart's sub and goes to the bottom of the ocean. there is a sea monster pyramid with an eye called leviathan. there is some bad metafictional humor where george realizes he's in a book. they plug leviathan into a supercomputer they have called fuck-up to pacify it. hagbard was the illuminati all along.

Are there any other books similar to this?

robert shea and robert anton wilson have a lot more books in similar vein. cosmic trigger, masks of the illuminati, schrodinger's cat and a truckload more

otherwise try vonnegut or doug adams or pynchon i guess

pic related

Principia Discordia is along similar lines.

Is the Principia Discordia actually good or is it just a meme book? What does it focus on?

>> No.7389656

>>7389150
It's a meme book but it's good.
It does hail from the 70s or whatever though, so maybe be prepared for some stale memes

Nah, I like the conspiracy theories trope, but it's in the same way how I used to like dragons when I was interested in elementary school. It's just a cool concept that makes a good story. Not interested in those who treat it seriously.
