None of the mainstream religions stands up. I think the problem of hell in Christianity makes it pretty unappealing. I must be in the minority but I just don't believe that for example, a man who raped 150 children and decapitated them in front of their parents house without repenting should be tortured for all eternity. It's not justice in the same way that a boy who pulls apart the appendages of an ant or spider that bites him is not justice. Justice would be purgatory for all sinners, not the meaningless flexings of an infinitely powerful god.

I'm a bit of an orientalist at heart and find Islam very appealing in terms of aesthetics and the lifestyle. I quite like the idea of waking up early to the call of a muezzin, following rituals multiple times a day, (having a QT arab wife), etc.

I could never bring myself to believe in it though. Even Christianity is more likely to be real, and that's probably a crock of shit too. Buddhism is closest to the mark.

I find the Old Testament interperation of God to be extremely thorough and accurate, but I cant reqlly get my head around the concept of Christ, and dont really accept the idea of an afterlife.

The reconstructivist European Neopagan movements would be better if they were open about being new religion movements inspired by, but not at all identical or continuous with, traditional European religions. The only difference is that it is done in hiding today, whereas it wasn't always so in the ancient world. What you have to understand is that everyone who sins is in a way worshipping the beast. The beast goes around the world converting everything into his image. Those who sin are sinning through giving their hearts to power, sex, wealth, death, despair; they belong to the devil spiritually, even if they aren't committed worshippers, they are unwitting slaves in bondage. This is why there is a hell and why Christ came to save us from it.

Cristianity is pretty much a made up religion to keep Europe together while they where being raided by barbarians and mixing their cultures. Islam is crazy on some regards, and Judaism is pretty much fascism.

Some other religions don't even make sense, they were a lifestyle and a buch of traditions from a community mixed with some myths to keep it spiritual (like nordic religions) or a way to control population with fear and war (like some of the central american ones).
