I'm building up a backlog of must-read books for myself (long-term). On the fence about these. Are any of this worth dropping or absolute musts? I need people to decide for me

1Q84
The Giver
House of Leaves
Ivanhoe
Babbitt
Don Quixote
East of Eden
Ender's Game
War and Peace
Les Miserables
Metamorphoses
Sherlock Holmes
Canterbury Tales
Robinson Crusoe
Three Musketeers
Brothers Karamazov
Count of Monte Cristo
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Drop 1Q84 because you can read the Wind-Up Bird Chronicle instead. It's vastly superior and shorter.

currently reading House of Leaves, so far I'd say it's a must read.

The Giver isn't worthwhile unless you're a kid new to dystopia.

Definitely read Monte Cristo, Les Miserables, Karamazov, and Metamorphoses. Canterbury is fun, but as a whole says more for just how raunchy the Middle Ages could be than as a work of clever satire. Most of the satire is in the prologue and dialogues outside of the stories within the story.

That list is almost perfectly aesthetically pleasing. Let me make it better.
