Who is the best publisher, /lit/?

>> No.7309222

I think Oxford or Vintage, they're often the most reliable in my opinion. I do, however, have a soft spot for Penguin Publishing - as long as you don't buy huge paperback novels from their publishing house (however those kitsch little minimalist hardbacks they do are cute), they're not bad at all.

Taschen. The fact my parents had a shelf full of borderline porn taschen books was a godsend as a horny teen with no other access to porn. They were educational too

I'm fond of New Directions

Wakefield Press is kind of my perfect ideal of a publisher so far. Small books, well-produced, interesting content with a solid theme.

Do you mean the penguin classics, or the penguin deluxe classics (White Noise, Gravity's Rainbow)?

Nice trips. Also yeah, Vintage are pretty based, I just wish they'd change their spines from that absurd red - it makes my book shelf look like a mess.

Libary of America

>> No.7310061

Everyman's library, Library of America, Penguin black, Wordsworth and modern library.
Publishers like vintage, barnes&nobles and signet are awful and overpriced for the quality of the paper. Literally newspaper tier.

No thanks senpai

Well, as a "Modern Classic." Not everything they print as a classic is worth reading (fuck, not every classic in the world is worth reading), but as a publisher they have a wide and varied roster of classic (and modern classic) reading material. Something is bound to cater to your tastes from them.

nice trips

also I got some love for the niggas at Picador, they published Miles Davis' autobiography and American Psycho so I have a soft spot for them.

It's quite an entertaining read and I don't even like The Smiths. Don't knock it until you've tried it, anon.
