Why aren't you a pragmatist /lit/?

Hardline zealotry is the only way to get things done and is therefore, paradoxically, pragmatic.

I am.
You're a retard if you're not a pragmatist in the 21st century.

>> No.7299738

Why aren't you an X ideologue? is a troubling meme because it insinuates that you need to be an ideologue at all.

You're right, that was a misleading label for "the ideology of not having an ideology"

Nihilism just sounds better

Stirner is a nihilist though.

and he recognized his own inability to be completely free from spooks

I'm just trying to make the point that "not having an ideology" is essentially an ideology

It's semantic nonsense that makes no logical sense (like "can God create a rock so heavy even God cannot lift it" or "This town has a barber who shaves everyone unable to shave themselves")

It is impossible to not be a pragmatist. All beliefs serve purposes of the believer; they satisfy psychological needs such as certainty consistency. Sometimes people do come to accept beliefs that make them uncomfortable, but the guilt of reverting is even greater than the uncomfortableness.

If Stirner had survived his insect bite the various ideological criticisms of the 20th century would have been foreshortened.
