Is the philosophy of Aristotle really as selfish as I've heard it claimed to be?

Does Aristotle think altruism is possible?

>> No.7294393

A book that makes you wanna get kids.

Altough we could get into the altruism debate here.

No, not even close.

It's selfish in the sense that it gets utilitarians' panties in a twist. It's not selfish really but the focus isn't altruism, it's honor.

i really doubt you care only about yourself
if it is true, however, you need medical attention more than a book

well, care is hard to conceptualise in a non-vague way. I care about others in that if everyone but me died I'd hate it or whatever but in terms of caring for people i.e. humanity I don't feel it. I can hear on the news about whatever horrible things are happening and I feel nothing, I can see people in real life having severe issues and feel nothing, I can see friends/family going through similar shit and feel a vague sense of guilt that I ought to do something/feel something but really it's forced.

I'd like to care about people in a normal, human way but i just don't

I actually know someone who is like that. Her grandfather died and she could care less. Her father was in the hospital and she refused to call him. She's not really a person and she doesn't feel anything.

Does anybody really care about anyone but themselves past their close family? I don't.

People who pretend they do are the type of people you see on reddit. That's all I'm saying.
