I haven't looked into this issue in a number of years but there is a lot more oil under the planet's surface than people ever imagined. Just look at the north american oil boom. I wish peak oil would happen sooner rather than later, it would be very good for our civilization, but it probably won't happen until well into the second half of this century or the next. And there is enough coal on the planet for at least two centuries of power.

The EROI rate is inconsequential as technology and demand renders deposits that have been considered for years as inviable such as Brazil's Pre-sal or the Albertan tar sands possible

Is this all you got? There are way worse things to be concerned about, but "peak oil" in whatever form it takes (has been predicted like what, four times in the last fifty years starting with the 70s energy crisis?) is the last one of those
