7192006 No.7192006 [Reply] [Original]

Has a novel ever been serialized on a chan or anon board? Does anyone have the the balls to release a novel to be criticized or praised based on word alone, in a hostile environment without authorship or credit? Is it just a a shitty fucking idea?

>> No.7192051

i serialized a novel in the google groups Church of the Subgenius community, but it was a Subgenius novel, and they were more or less inclined to find it entertaining. if i posted it here, people would shit on it from a great height.

I find that to be a big issue, this is a place where people come to take bitter angry shits. Also, I've never heard of subgenius. Are novels still serialized very commonly at all even? Because I think the net is a great place for it, and it has been done successfully before.

Yeah - it's called Practice What You Peach, a story about a peach farmer who hates peaches. It's actually pretty good.

I kinda had a thing going in critique threads probably ~6 months ago where I would post several recently written pieces of my novel in each thread, and I eventually accrued a decent bit of interest. Many of those who frequented the threads would recognize my prose style or characters. It went ok. Then I self-published and made $11.

that's true. and for a while I was too self-conscious about it to really market it. All in all, 7/10 experience.

your standard subgenius novel is a little like PKD meets Pynchon meets the Marx Brothers meets Bugs Bunny while raping Ren and Stimpy on acid.

posting any original work here is too much like NOTICE ME SENPAI.

also, 87,000 words, broken up into posts of 2000 words each? who is going to solve in that many fucking captchas? not me.

There is also a manga from 2chan called Molester man. As you can guess it's about an anon who was mistaken for a molester but through a series of events he ends up with a real gf.
