heh, I actually imagined the characters in this novel as anime characters.

you had to have been born in the mid 80s to mid 90s when the Japanese culture boom spread to North American television and video games (that targeted the youth of the day)

What style would work? I think that the early 70's Shoujo style would fit his pretty, flowery prose, but then that might pose the problem of bringing out the edge that characterizes everything he ever wrote.

It would need to be incredibly pretty, but also somehow imply danger and disturbance. I think that there's potentially some great visuals to be created if somebody skilled were to put their mind to this.

You show me one great artist who sincerely loves their own work. Lucy Maud Montgomery died thinking she'd never written a great novel.

Didn’t Dante have the ancients tell him what a great poet he was?

Pretty sure Mishima had adaptations in Seishun Anime Zenshu.

I like this concept. The dissonance is interesting.

That's not a bad idea. I've watched a couple of episodes of the anime adaption of Anne of Green Gables and it's actually really solid. And it's cool to see that they actually did try some of Mishima's work at one point.
