Three on the go at the moment!

>> No.7070209

I find it incredible that people can read a number of books on the go. I can only ever read one book at a time or I lose sense of what's going on. (Unless one book is fiction and one is non-fiction)

>> No.7070306

I don't have a big problem with it, but also only one of those is fiction. I just find it like watching different TV shows.

No one else gonna post? Whatcha reading?!

I find it only weird when the combinations include something very major, such as IJ in OP's pic. It's one of the books you develop a relation with etc etc, it's been said on /lit/ ad nauseam.

I don't read 2+ at once either, but had I to do so, I would. Unless one of them were to be some pomo powerhouse.

>> No.7070338

>Morrissey's autobiography
>The Sorrows of Young Werther

One of them fiction, the other non-fiction. I can't imagine reading more than two at a time though.

I try to read two books parallelly, one that is fiction and one more scientific/educational to fit whatever I'm feeling like at the moment.

I find that the more books I read at once, the more time I spend reading. After 1-2 hours of reading one book I tend to get restless, even if I'm enjoying it, but if at that point I switch books, my interest and patience is renewed and my "timer" basically resets.

I feel the exact same way. I've been trying to cut down to 1 book at a time, but I feel like it would not be that beneficial. I'm usually juggling 2-3 books. Usually one is a novel and the other an essay. The third one must be an essay or anything lighthearted. Novels don't mix well.

I still feel like I'm being memed on IJ. I'm going to power through it once, forget about it for a bit & then see if it's worth coming back to. tbh it's well written, but it's not grabbing me like books like Dante or Satanic Verses (ie books I reread & did secondary reading on). It feels like it has a sheen of YA that I'm struggling to see through.

I'm working my way through the second to last section. A lot of people made it sound extremely daunting, that second to last section, but I'm really enjoying it. It certainly is quite a tome. I don't think it's a meme book yet, but it's on its way. It really depends how in-depth the Wikipedia article gets ;)

I dont know if it ever will truly, just because you have to make it through the professors and Amalfitano to get to the gory part.

Do you think Amalfitano died at the end of his section? I ask because I read it like 4-5 months ago and im already slipping on details.

I disliked it. Really try to read Kafka in German if you're up to it. It's much more desolate and haunting.

I'm not sure. I don't think so, because I'm not sure if Rosa had gone yet. It seems like the professors visit Amalfitano after Amalfitano's section and Fate's section, which makes me think he didn't. However the chronology is difficult and I'm sure I may have missed hints or clues as to when everything is taking place.
