Is Kvothe the biggest fucking fedora in fantasy lit?

You forgot his persecution, his rage, and his brooding.

But no, he's no Rahl, no Al'Thor, and no um...other guy whose name escapes me.

I absolutely love listening to Patrick Rothfuss talk about writing, but I have no interest in reading his books. Does that make me a pleb?

Yep. And if Rothfuss wrote that on purpose it would be brilliant. But he didn't.

Kvothe going from awkward kid to ladykiller was a bit dumb, but I guess that's one way to segue your character from clueless to suave.

I thought that was the point, I thought we were getting a story of a hero whose story is so exceptional that he can't fail - and then he does.

Fedoras don't know they are fedoras. If the story was written as a story of someone that's totally not self aware of that, it would be brilliant. But due to this cringe worth picture, and most everything Rothfuss says and does, I'm sure he himself is not self aware of his fedoraness.

I'm sure Rothfuss calls himself a feminist and is super anti racist too.

well hold on, let's consider the facts: the story is anticipating a fall, the whole of the series is built on this inevitability, and the course of Kvothe's life is one of incessant ego inflation - he almost literally never fails. Consider also this told from the perspective of Kvothe and it becomes at least a little clear that there's a chance there might be some subversion of what it is you fear, namely a lack of "true" self awareness. I will say the heights that Kvothe achieves in the second book are so astronomically improbable (even within the context of the fantasy setting) that it seems unlikely Rothfuss will be able to deliver the truly adequate faltering Kvothe deserves to make his story meaningful, but we can still hope.
I don't think it's fair to take the dude's personal political inclination into account until it starts affecting his work - we don't often dismiss Brecht's early work for his later political affiliations until it becomes clear the literary themes he concerns himself with conflict with his lifestyle. When Kvothe's ultimate failure comes not from a lack of self awareness but rather the "uncontrollable forces of a deeply prejudiced society" then what you're saying might make sense, but honestly I do think there's a chance the last book might not suck.
