How many words do you write a day, /lit/?

I set my goal at 1k words a day, but I usually write about 600-800 depending on my mood. I'm trying to improve that though. How about you?

Quality over quantity.

Hemingway was such a fucking poser.

I dont count words, i just write out scenes, shorts, excercises, etc

For me the idea is to get down something complete

Quality is what editing is for. In terms of getting actual writing done quantity > quality

Not nearly enough but I write a lot of letters which I hope helps keep me sharp

Aiming to spend 3 hours a day this semester on literature. What do you think?

I spend this time reading everyday. But when it comes to writing I get stuck after one hour or less.

0 is very close to my average.
Started a novel a few months ago. I wrote 2000 words on the first day, 600 in the second, nothing for a week, the added 1000 some day later, and nothing since a few months.
I find it hard to be motivated to write since I recently received another rejection, and I'm on antidepressants but out of pills, and some other things that would make this post longer than it should be. The thing is, soon after I write something I start to think it's all useless.

Gonna set a writing quota for myself of maybe 500 words at first, I usually can write more than that but I don't want it to feel like a chore and I want to leave myself room to edit every day.

Okay, as an anon who loves Hemingway I have to step in and say that your argument is fucking retarded. People still read Mein Kampff years later and that doesn't make it a masterpiece of literary thought (inb4 /pol/)

What kind of youtube comment retard retort is that? Because he was a successful author he can't be a poser?

I actually like his writing, but the man was a conflicted little tryhard poser and a terrible person. It's what he did, he was obsessed with his own myth.

Stick with it, man. As long as you're doing what you love and getting better at it, that's what counts. Having others reward your effort is certainly nice, but know that nobody but yourself can fully appreciate your work.

>> No.7024168

I don't go for a word count quota. I go for time. No more than 2 hours of writing a day (count can vary from 500-1000 words), and even if I still have more stuff to write, I stop because I like to have something to carry over into the next session.

I'll admit it was a bad argument, I meant more along the lines of being taught as an example of being good literature, which is begging the question of course.

He was. He literally tried to create memes about himself.

For example, he tried to make the local Cubans call him 'Papa' to be a cool old patriatrch but they just called him Ernesto.

This was a man who made up nicknames for himself and then tried to make people call him that. Just let that sink in.
