Alright /lit/ I'm relatively new to reading actual literature. I've read my whole life but the hardest books I've ever read have been YA books. I just read pic related because I've been trying to get into actual literature. What is /lit/'s tips on going from YA books to books harder to understand for plebs like me?

How did you feel about the book?

Just keep reading things you like, but keep looking for things outside your comfort zone.

I enjoyed it. Not my favorite classic though. I don't know if you would consider it "classic" but my favorite book of all time is silence of the lambs

Here's what I recommend if you want to delve into harder "classical" literature.

Open up a list of classical books (for example, take this - https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/classical)) Look through the list, see books intrigue you, and check them out an unabridged version at the library.

Don't force yourself to read if you don't want to, but make it a habit to read every day - it'll slowly become a habit. Then you'll begin to appreciate reading more and will essentially kickstart your /lit/eracy.

Also, don't read The Count of Monte Shito. That book is a prime example of how you can take a fascinating idea and run it into the ground.

to be honest, rather than jumping straight into hard classics, you could check out some more "serious" literary writers who dabble in genre fiction like murakami or mccarthy. you might also enjoy more literary sci-fi. works by bradbury, though i'm not a fan, are held in high regard. 1984 and brave new world are musts if you want to go here. after getting a bit more used to heavier writing you could, as they say, start with the greeks, or just read whatever interests you.

Oh yeah? Well the same can be said about your glorious Goof Troop, you pompous ass.

It takes a fascinating idea (what if Goofy had a totally rad 90s kid son) and ran it into the ground. By the time the movie came out, I just didn't care anymore. Still watched it. Leaning tower of cheese-a is classic.
