Are there any books that may help to improve my personality?

I got a job waiting tables and obviously being personable determines your success. The problem is I'm not very humorous or enchanting in a way people generally expect. I'm not a social retard either, I just want to perform well.

This is probably a long shot but I'm desperate.

you'd probably become a little more personable and social by not censoring yourself while also saying things that aren't over the general line of appropriateness in general conversation. This is counter intuitive, but being more open and willing to speak in general will make you appear more friendly. You may want to smile more as well if you don't already. There are some pick up books that might be helpful to you if you get anxious and shit like that, but once you start talking with more people and starting more conversations it gets easier to keep talking/being friendly with folks. Unfortunately all the important stuff has to be learned in real life, not from a book.

Be fake, act like a character. I've been a cook in restaurants, the servers that got the best tips were the ones that put on the best act. The guy I knew who made the most at a high-end restaurant would just act extremely passionate about the menu, over-selling things, being confident but submissive, etc. And it was all an act, he was really an ass who would laugh and make fun of the doctors, lawyers, etc who asked for him personally and tipped him very well.

Basically, you don't need a book. Think of the qualities of a good server/one that gets tipped big and put it into action.
