Embassidor from /v/ here. I love horror point and click adventure games new and old.

I recently got a Kindle and I am looking for more short stories like I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and stories like the ones inspired by H.P. Lovecraft.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Anyways, OP, check out "Shatterday" by Ellison. It's a great collection of his. Roadside Picnic is good too, if you like STALKER. If you enjoy Lovecraft, you also may like Clark Ashton Smith or Ray Bradbury. Shirley Jackson is more gothic, I think, but she has some pretty spooky short stories. MR Janes was a pioneer in the ghost story. Not sure if this helps though, if you're looking for speculative fiction like Ellisons.

/lit/ is filled with horribly pretentious people, but they really aren't all that different from the jaded outcasts of /v/. It's entirely possible to enjoy reading/studying Joyce, Dostoevsky, Faulkner and McCarthy while not being too much of a stuck up snob to have hobbies. A lot of the people here, such as

>>6964533
>>6964478
>>6964436

Feel they need to ridicule other people and what they like in order to feel good about themselves. They're not very self aware, is what I'm saying.

Also, I forgot to add, there are varying degrees of Lovecraft. There are the Cthulhu mythos (Shadow over Innsmouth, Dagon), then there are Lovecraft's more "weird" tales (The Thing on the Doorstep) and finally his gothic stories (Rats in the Walls, the Outsider). They're pretty different from each other, but I still recommend you try them all.
