It is literally incredible how upset the average wagecuck gets when confronted with someone who has transcended the desire to sacrifice himself for the vague notion of "society". Plenty of tax money is wasted each year on obscure overseas aid projects, failing banks, corporations registered to tropical tax havens, to name just a few. The fact you only become upset when you see someone choosing to resist the work-sleep-work lifestyle and live a life of freedom and creativity shows that the source of your anger isn't a desire for justice but an intense feeling of jealousy. Also you misspelled "criminals". Maybe you should catch up on your sleep. Good workcuck.

Again, as an animal is innocent due its inability to act in a rational manner, I am innocent due to my inability to act in a way which degrades my sense of dignity or undermines the high standards to which I have always and will always aspire. Therefore I benefit how I please from the social contract, I simply refuse to write with blood my own signature, able as I am to see its countless flaws and vices. My being "above it" grants me permission to use it as I please without contributing to it (and thus adding to its misery and corruption)

not all of us are reading YA novellas that can be read in one sitting

>> No.6840385

I am a really fast reader and I usually can't get a book in faster than two days. Usually the first day I can get 100-200 pages in, and the next day (assuming it's at most 500 pages) get the rest. If it's 500+ then I might take 4-5 days, for example The Recognitions took me a workweek. Then I might take the next day off of reading to rest my eyes and just think about what I read, while trying a few sentences in the author's style in an attempt to better understand their craft.

As for poetry books those sometimes take me weeks to finish, I can only read maybe a few poems a day

>> No.6840487

>>6837707
tl;dr - It works only with practical books and if you know how to do it right.

First of all, I don't like this guy. To me, he is an embodiment of vanity, psedointellect and materialism.

But...

There is some truth in what he's saying, BUT it only works for certain type of books. Also claiming that you can do it in 10 minutes is just plain stupid.

I believe that you can learn to read a practical book(including self-help*) in 1-4 hours, depending on length. This method will not work on anything else. I've read only few practical books, so I cannot speak for majority, but usually the author makes a brief summary at end of each chapther. If that's the case I think it might work.

I remember How to Read a Book had few chapters on this. It put more emphasis on reader than you might expect. You'd have to ask yourself, before you even open the book, what do you want from the book; what is the authors main objective/message/idea; how much time is the book actually worth to you; and so on. I'd say, he does get the bit about focusing right. It's more about knowing where to focus your attention in the book rather than just speedreading it.

*- To me, it seems that he only reads this type of books, thus he can make a claim like that, but ignoring every other type of book is just plain ignorance.
