Listen to some bluegrass or depression era blues/folk songs, sorta fits the book(s? only read Dead Souls). Alternatively, Karlowicz's Violin Concerto in A is very good and not well known, but really you just shouldn't listen to classical music while reading, you will likely not be able to concentrate on either
